Can I book more than one week in the FUN & LEARN summer camp?
Yes, you can book up to four weeks in the summer camp. From one week, to four weeks, everything is possible. The booked weeks don`t have to be sequential (you can book week one and week three).
What if I can't bring my child to camp or pick him/her up?
It is nice when the parents get to know the house, the organisers and the caretaker. However, this is often not possible and advisable if you are travelling long distances.
Contact us - we will try to support your arrival and departure - e.g. transfer from Innsbruck station to Neustift.
How are the rooms arranged?
The participants form groups of 2 or 4. Friends are not separated. For older children we try to put e.g. 2 Austrians and 2 Spaniards in one room.
Which level of English is required to participate?
Your children don`t have to be perfect in English, therefore we are learning it playfully. We suggest a knowledge of a least a few words, but some caretakers and other kids are speaking German fluently to guarantee a comfortable surrounding for children, who are not comfortable with speaking English in the beginning.
How are the English groups classified?
We divide the children according to their English level. It is possible to change to a better group at any time, even if you are younger.
Even small groups are often heterogeneous and encourage social learning. We are committed to it, that's life.
Is my child graded in this class?
No. A lot of fun and individual encouragement (of the interests and needs) are in the foreground. Special questions of the children about English grammar are explained by our competent teachers and tutors - everything without grades or evaluations of the children.
How does the teaching work?
There are about 8-12 children in each group.
The task of the teachers/tutors is that the children are as active as possible and speak a lot. In order to achieve this goal, the children make presentations, sing and play language and roles. At the same time, grammar inputs are given to make the lessons as varied as possible. The lessons are as individual as the children themselves.
Are the participants also divided into groups in the afternoon and evening?
Depending on their interests, the children usually form groups themselves: Football, volleyball, swimming, playing cards...
Sometimes we mix the groups - very often the children themselves organize groups like they feel comfortable.
Experience has shown that the difference in age from 9-10 to 15 is not a problem, but rather an enrichment for everyone.
How does this work with the mobile phone?
On the first evening the children hand in their mobile phones. But they always get it for about 30-40 minutes after lunch.
Children from outside Austria (Russia, Turkey) get access to the WLAN in order to communicate cheaply via WhatsApp.
What to do about homesickness?
The children usually find advice and connection for such situations from their peers or children of the same nation. They give a certain stability and security; this is also offered by our empathetic carers. If you have any problems, they are your first point of contact. They also issue the telephones and, in urgent cases, make it possible to get in touch with the parents. It is in everyone's interest that they give the child some courage and joy to make the summer camp experience unique despite homesickness.
